Information for schools and teachers
Be mentored by a personal STEM mentor
CyberMentor is Germany's largest online mentoring program for female students. It is aimed at female students from 5th to 13th grade with an interest in STEM. For one year, each female student is assigned a personal mentor who works professionally in the STEM field and is available for a weekly online exchange of about 30 minutes. As a STEM role model, the mentor provides insight into her everyday professional life, offers information about STEM, and initiates joint STEM projects. Younger female students thus have the chance to get to know the STEM field from an extracurricular perspective at an early stage. Older schoolgirls receive helpful advice on choosing a course of study and a career.
Get to know the diversity of the STEM field in your own community
Together with their mentor, the students are part of a fixed STEM network: a community consisting of two mentoring pairs. The four of them exchange information regularly via chat or an internal discussion forum. Exciting STEM projects can be worked on as a team. The "co-mentees" of the same age act as ideal role models. Within their community, the students thus experience the STEM field in a diversity that goes beyond the 1:1 support provided by a personal mentor.
Discover the STEM world on the CyberMentor platform
On the CyberMentor platform, the mentees have access to a "STEM world" in which there are numerous learning opportunities to discover - alone, together with the mentor or the community. In addition to an online magazine, a STEM talk discussion forum and regular topic chats, as well as exciting STEM projects are waiting for the female students. Over the course of the mentoring year, the mentees can participate in various STEM phases. They learn about the role STEM plays in their everyday lives, can conduct exciting experiments themselves, and work on interdisciplinary projects together with other participants.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact the CyberMentor team.
